Monk started in the sign business in 1978 and working in the movie industry in 1979. In 1989 he opened A-Monk's Sign Company and began focusing on custom sign work needed in the Chicago Area. The majority of Monk's knowledge comes from hands on experience, but he has taken extensive classes in airbrush at "The School of Airbrush Arts", weekend seminars in New Jersey for airbrushing and pinstriping, and a two-week course in faux painting.

Monk works on many movies and television shows in Chicago and all around the United States, and has proven himself in the industry. He enjoys the fast pace and intensive atmosphere of the motion picture world, and can be relied on to make sure everything is on time and correct. His attention to detail is second to none, and his hands on approach to projects leaves the competition flat.

Monk sets himself apart from other people in the sign industry through his hand lettering, woodworking skills, knowledge of aged signs and scenic experience. Very few people can produce signs without the aid of a computer now a days, but Monk can and will using experience, skill and ambition.

Starting from humble beginnings, Monk has kept up with the competition, and now has a full service sign shop with current technology and expert employees to help any customer with a unique situation.
